| RÉSUMÉ | After completing a cross-country bike trip, Leo visits his left-wing 91-year-old grandmother in Greenwich Village and stays for a while. They have great affection for each other, but the unlikely roommates start to bicker and berate each other in an Odd Couple kind of way. Both are at painful crossroads in their lives. The prickly Vera is grappling with the realities of life in her senior years, and Leo is wrestling with a family crisis and the haunting memory of a tragic accident - not to mention a girlfriend who rebuffs him even though he's crossed the country to woo her. 4000 Miles is a funny and moving play that dignifies old age and illuminates the healing power of companionship and intergenerational relationships. Après avoir traversé le pays à vélo, Leo rend visite à sa grand-mère gauchiste de 91 ans à Greenwich Village, où il finit par séjourner quelque temps. Les improbables colocataires ont beaucoup d'affection l'un pour l'autre, mais ils commencent à se chamailler et à se réprimander à la manière du DRÔLE DE COUPLE de Neil Simon. Tous deux sont à un croisement difficile de leur vie. L'irritable Vera lutte avec les réalités de la vie dans ses vieilles années tandis que Leo se débat avec une crise familiale et le souvenir d'un accident tragique qui le hante. Sans oublier une petite amie qui le repousse même s'il a traversé le pays pour lui plaire. 4000 MILES est une pièce drôle et touchante qui rend sa dignité à la vieillesse et fait la lumière sur le pouvoir de guérison associé à la compagnie d'autrui et aux relations intergénérationnelles. |
